What to do about stubborn neck fat

We wouldn’t be human if we didn’t get bothered by parts of our face or body we don’t like. For lots of people it’s the stubborn pad of fat under the chin. It would be false of me to say that we get this deposit because of bad diet or poor exercise choices, sometimes it is just genetic. That means some people are predisposed to collecting submental fat based on their genetic makeup. This can be exacerbated if you do not follow a good diet and sensible exercise regime.

So what if you are someone who takes care of themselves and still have a double chin or more fullness in the neck? I have met people who have tried many of the gimmicks that promise results but only succeed in emptying the wallet! Creams, exercise gadgets, pills and patches might seem like a last resort but they don’t work.

What does? Liposuction and Kybella fat dissolving injections. So let’s have a look at the two options. Liposuction is invasive surgery and comes with the risks associated with that. It is expensive and requires downtime not to mention the scarring, swelling and bruising can linger from person to person. On the other hand Kybella is FDA approved and specifically designed to kill the fat cells that form submental fat pockets. It is less expensive than liposuction and though it causes swelling for usually up to the first week it goes down to reveal a more slender, smoother silhouette. Over several weeks the final results can be seen. If the patient is not satisfied with the level of fat loss they can have another session (one month apart) until they reach the level of correction they are looking for. It can take up to six sessions but each person is different. With liposuction it is a LOT harder to put back fat if too much is removed and it can be hard to judge, how much is too much, until it’s too late!
