Biote hormone treatment is a natural method used by physicians to balance hormones. It helps reduce and often eliminate the negative effects hormone imbalance has on the body. It is a specific type of bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT). The Biote method is either a BHRT estrogen pellet for women or a BHRT testosterone pellet for men that is inserted subcutaneously, releasing a continuous stream of the specific hormone into the blood. The pellets eventually dissolve and are absorbed by the body allowing hormones to be available when the body is in need.The dosage of pellet therapy will be customized for the patient. Many people may only need two pellet insertions a year to feel better.

Subcutaneous pellets have the advantage of steady release. Oral drugs can cause wild swings in hormone levels, peaking after one dose and then dwindling before your next pill. Biote pellets are custom compounded by Food and Drug Administration registered pharmaceutical manufacturers providing a high level of safety through per batch monitoring and FDA compliance oversight. 

Biote pellets are typically placed below the skin on your hip. The insertion process is simple and fast once your hormonal needs are established and the right pellet formulation is chosen. 

This therapy also proves healthier than traditional medication therapy, as the BHRT hormones received through pellet therapy do not affect the liver or blood clotting factors. Hormone levels do not appear to fluctuate as they may with prescription medications, gels, or shots and they do not increase the risk of thrombosis. Much of the reason for this is due to the ingredients in the pellets which are made from the yam plant or soy to create estradiol or testosterone molecules.

Symptom relief has been reported by patients from hours after the pellet insertion up to four weeks after insertion. It is possible it may take up to six months to feel a significant difference in symptom relief and many patients notice the full benefits after a second pellet insertion. Your provider will talk with you during the initial consultation and after the initial pellet insertion about the timing of your second treatment as well as the amount of treatments you may need.

During the treatment process the area of pellet insertion on the body will be clarified. Usually this is the middle to upper buttocks region. The area will be numbed, a small incision made and the pellet inserted. The incision area is covered by a bandage and the pellet eventually dissolves through absorption into the body.
