Bye bye cellulite, hello beach!

I know that Summer might be far away off, but I am a believer in preparation! So while the weather is brrrrr and none of us can even think about peeling off, this is a good time to start planning. In nature it is common for mammals to put on a extra layer of fat to protect against the cold, and though we don’t need to worry about foraging for food or hibernating, we are still mammals!

It might be daunting to look in the mirror and see a bit more cellulite or padding than is normal. But most of us have the same issue and in the case of cellulite it has less to do with our weight. No matter how much exercise you do or what you weigh, cellulite can still happen.

It usually strikes in the hip, thighs and butt region most of all. Part of that is due to the structure of the connective tissue of the region. When fat accumulates it pushes up in between the fibrous connective cords that connect the skin to the muscle underneath. The fat goes up and the chords push down creating that dimpled, rippling and bumpy look. Other factors that can influence cellulite is hormonal status with some hormones like estrogen affecting fat accumulation.

So what can be done? There are a few surgical options out there such as Cellulaze that involves snipping the cords and then sucking out the fat, But that seems a little excessive especially when you can use non-surgical options like Morpheus8 RF Microneedling. The radiofrequency waves melt the fat and tighten the overlying skin, sounds like a win win. It takes a few sessions depending on the patient and minimizes the look of cellulite. It can be used in conjunction with EvolveX to work the underlying muscles and the fat. Seeing as we have a few months to get ready for swimsuit season, starting either of these treatments makes good sense.  Here come the beach babes!
