Keep it natural looking

Facial enhancement is a matter of taste and that varies from person to person. For example what my 20 something patients want isn’t always the same as what my 60 year old patients want. My older clientele often say, “I don’t want to look like I’ve had anything done,” or “we want to look our age but refreshed and healthy.”

My younger patients might say,”give us that Insta-friendly look!” Their tastes are often dictated to by their idols from social media and they often have a more extravagant or glamorous take on facial aesthetics. It’s all about preference and if there is anything I know, taking the patient’s view is important and then advising if it works with their features, is my job. I do not dictate what they should do but I won’t stand back and let them look unnatural. I improve what is already there or add what is missing, simple math! We have all seen those celebrity pictures and cried, “how could her surgeon do that to her face, it doesn’t move,” or “that looks plastic.” So how do we avoid that?

Find a practitioner whose work you have seen, check before and after photos of their work (not manufacturer’s work), and don’t just go for the first person who offers cheap procedures. Listen to word of mouth, check verified google reviews etc.

When you find someone you trust and like their work see how well they listen. Do you get a sales pitch or are your questions answered and there is no hard sell? If the answer is you feel good about moving on then do so.

When treatment is happening start slow, you can always add more, but it is harder to take away (with hyaluronic acid fillers you can remove them by injecting hyaluronidase enzyme). But too much neurotoxin leaves you will no option but to wait until it wears off. So trying an area first then another once it settles in two weeks, is advisable.

Ask which products work slowly, for example Sculptra stimulates the collagen, and while you see some fullness upon injection it keeps working for a few weeks, additional treatments occur after this stage is reviewed. This method gives gentle controllable volume.

At the end of the day I want to inspire confidence and guide my patients towards their dream look.

Come in and see us at Invigorate Advanced Aesthetics in Centennial, Colorado to discuss Sculptra.
